Kings Mountain Historical Museum Reverse Raffle & Auction coming up
First-time donor Nick Carpenter, head of a new Cleveland County business Nick & Sarah's River Excursions, stopped by the Museum this week to donate several certificates for local guided river tours.

Kings Mountain Historical Museum's 13th Annual Reverse Raffle & Auctions is coming up on Saturday, September 10, 2016.
Local artisans and entrepreneurs - some first-time and some long-time supporters of the Museum's annual benefit - are contributing a variety of one of a kind artworks and experiences for the live, silent, and cake auctions, and for raffle prizes.
"We try to focus on 'local' for this event," said Fundraiser Chair Priscilla H. Mauney. "We know our community members appreciate and want to support local businesses, artists, and manufacturers - as do we."
These and many other great items will be up for bid or awarded as raffle prizes at this year's Reverse Raffle & Auctions. One in five ticket holders will win a raffle prize, and there will be a "Final Five Finale" with prizes increasing in value up to the $10,000 Grand Prize at the last ticket drawn. Ticket holders do not have to be present at the event to win. Each $125 ticket includes a catered dinner for two. Tickets are currently still available at the Museum at 100 East Mountain Street.
"This is one of the best ways people can support their local history museum, and in turn, the community," said Museum President Susan Champion. "The event is very exciting, it's a lot of fun, and everyone walks away with something - be it dinner with friends, a raffle prize, an auction item - and especially the satisfaction of supporting a good cause. As the Museum continues to grow, it drives local and out-of-town tourism, supporting economic development, and improving education and quality of life for local citizens. Sustaining the Museum ensures the future of our community. It's a win-win."
As a nonprofit organization, KMHM depends on the revenue generated by this event to provide educational exhibits, events, and outreach services free of charge to the public. The Annual Reverse Raffle also supports KMHM's efforts to preserve and interpret three historic buildings and a growing collection of historical photographs, archives, and objects - artifacts that speak to this region's unique cultural heritage.
