Kings Mountain Historical Museum’s “Spring Fling”
Performing for visitors at the KM Historical Museum Spring Fling is the "Log Cabin String Band". (L to R) Tommy Forney, Brad Herndon, Charles Watts and Lynn Eskridge set up camp outside in the shade at the entrance of the historic Robert Barber house.
History came alive out back of the Kings Mountain Historical Museum on Saturday, April 14, between the historic Robert Barber and George Washington Cornwell open houses. Outside, “The Log Cabin String Band” filled the air with old time tunes that have endured the centuries. The 38th North Carolina Troops Civil War Re-enactors set up camping sites and displayed some activity from the civil war era. Some even slept on the campgrounds overnight. A special treat was the appearance of Mark Hughes, author of “The New Civil War Handbook: Facts and Photos for Readers of All Ages”. He autographed books and spent time with visitors. The most interesting book is now available at the Kings Mountain Historical Museum gift shop. It was a great opportunity for all, young and old alike, to experience a live history lesson. The museum is a must for all Cleveland County school children as well as residents.
