Kings Mountain’s Rhodesdale Farm Celebrates Second Anniversary
John Carroll, Co-Manager of Rhodesdale Farm, located at 811 Shelby Road, Kings Mountain.
For many years, Mountain View Orchard, located at 1811 Shelby Road was a mainstay in Kings Mountain. This roadside stop was a great place to always pick up fresh vegetables. Two years ago, it was leased to farmer Jason Rhodes and became Rhodesdale Farm. The location has been completely remodeled and they’ve expanded their menu of items. In addition to fresh vegetables and fruits, Rhodesdale now has a wide variety of beef, pork, local eggs, jams, jellies, salsa, chow chow as well as a great selection of ciders, juices, dried beans by the pound and even biscuit syrup. Everything is locally produced and embodies the slogan “Goodness Grows In North Carolina!” Jason loves farming and is well known for his fresh blueberries, muscadines and asparagus. He also offers a variety of fresh peaches. On Saturday, April 6th, Rhodesdale Farm roadside market will celebrate its second anniversary. The celebration will include special classes on how to grow vegetables in straw. The class is only $5.00 and starts at 2 p.m. The Cleveland County Master Gardeners will also be there from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to answer any questions on gardening. The special Customer Appreciation Day will include a ten percent discount on all produce purchased. Co-Managers John Carroll and Joe Foster will be on hand to assist everyone. If you’re looking for a special place with a lot of special things to eat, you’ll find it at Rhodesdale Farm.   –M. A. Andrews
