LaDonna Proctor Black, age 50, died July 13, 2018 at White Oak Manor in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on July 24, 1967 she was the daughter of Carolyn Proctor of Gastonia and the late Thomas Proctor, and adopted parents, the late Dean and Kem Sain Black. LaDonna was a graduate of Crest High School. She earned her CNA and worked at South Haven Nursing Home in Gastonia. LaDonna has courageously fought Huntington's disease for 16 years. She never let the disease define her, as she kept her loving heart and her wonderful spirit shine with those that she met. In addition to her father and adopted parents, LaDonna is preceded in death by her sister, Tonya Thurman.

LaDonna is survived by three children, Josh Brooks of Shelby; Tia Jones of Mt Holly, Levi Jones and Shay Brooks of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Kingston Jones, Karmyn Jones, Deja Jones, Daijon Stanfield, Curt Graham, Graison Jones, Kevin Banks; a sister, Joyce Davidson and husband Eric of Shelby; nieces and nephews, Garrett Alexander and wife Dana, Joy Elizabeth Davis and husband Mitch, Brock Owens, Matthew Owens, Hampton Brown Jr and Gavin Brown; a brother-in-law, Jerry Thurman; and the loving staff at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
