Lane Hubbard Downs

Thursday, September 18, 2025, Lane Hubbard Downs ran into the Arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus after a courageous fight.

Lane was born April 24, 2015, to Benjamin Hubbard and Alisa Beam Downs. From his very first breath to his very last Lane was a fighter. He never gave up.

Lane had a contagious smile, and he lit up every room he was in. An avid traveler Lane loved the Atlanta Braves and the many trips he took with his mama and daddy. He loved deer hunting, swimming in his pool, van rides in his van, and church.

Lane was loved by many, but his cousins were his best friends, protectors, and champions. They never saw his inabilities. Lane loved bathtime and a snuggly set of pajamas. He loved his drums and music, and he would praise the Lord through songs in church.

Lane was strong until his last breath.

Lane was preceded in death by his Popaw Marc Beam, Great Grandparents, Harold and Diana Kendrick, Marc and Alda Beam, Paul Downs and Bill Hubbard and Ramona Bridges.

He is survived by his Mama and Daddy, his Nanny Betty Proctor Downs; his Nana Donna Kendrick Beam; Grandma and Grandpa Shake and Billie Downs; his (Aunt Manda) Amanda and Uncle Jeremy Morris, Uncle Jonathan Downs and cousins, Turner Morris, Yates Morris and Paislee Downs. Lane was blessed with a massive family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank Lane's wonderful caregivers, Vicki Pendergrass, Jeiselyn Selva and Heather Abernathy for their years of unwavering love and dedication to the care of Lane. Lane's entire medical team, Dr. Benfield, Dr. Chadha, Dr. Van Poppel, Dr. Caughlin, and Nicole Sartor. Cardinal Kids Hospice Team, and Levine's Childres Hospital, the PAC-U team.

Lane was a student at Washington Elementary served by Ms. Brittainy and Mrs. Abbie. Thank you so much to the Gardner-Webb University Football Program for giving children like Lane a night to shine. A special thanks to Lane's guy Griff.

A celebration of Lane's life and legacy will be held on Monday evening at 6:00 PM at Lane's Church, Ross Grove Baptist Church. The family will have a private burial at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers you can make memorials to the Ross Grove Baptist Church c/o Lane Downs Playground Fund.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
