Larry "Barry" Self, age 68, of Ellenboro, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland.
Born August 26, 1948 in Lincoln County, NC, he was a son to the late Earl Hoover Self and Mary Lucille Reinhardt Self. He worked for Asplundh Tree Service and Thompson Contractors Inc. for many years. Larry was an avid race fan and enjoyed going to Harris Speedway and helping his son work on his race car.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sylvia Dills, Sheila Self, Elaine Armstrong and brother, Charlie Self.
Survivors include a son, Larry D. Self and fiancé, Lydia Fowler of Ellenboro; two sisters, Carolyn Self of Conover, NC and Brenda Self McCurry and husband, Dallas of Golden Valley. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Alexis and Noah; his beloved pet, Chloe and a host of nieces and nephews.
A viewing and receiving of friends will be conducted from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Harrelson Funeral Home.
