Larry D. Hastings, 85, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.

Larry was born on February 13, 1940, in Cleveland County and was a son of the late Joe T. Hastings and Essie Chapman Hastings. He worked in many different jobs through his life but retired from Copland. He was a member of Polkville Methodist Church, and Larry also loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Floyd Hastings and wife Hilda and Hugh M. Hastings and a sister Edna Camp and husband James.

Larry is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Pearleen Hastings; and a special niece Lisa Brackett and husband Jerry.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Jerry & Lisa Brackett, 5223 Polkville Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.

A funeral service will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, 2:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel in Fallston, NC, with the Dr. David A. Irish officiating.

Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Casar.
