Cherryville - Mr. Larry Newsome passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the age of 62 at his home surrounded by family after a long brave battle with cancer.

Larry was born in Elkton, Maryland on March 16, 1958 a son of the late Sterling Ray Newsome, Sr. and Ellen Woodard McCracken. For many years he resided in Lancaster county Pennsylvania before moving to North Carolina four years ago. Larry was employed at Milliken in Spartanburg, SC, home of the best coworkers a person could ask for. Larry loved his home in Cherryville, enjoyed unique flowers and plants, watching the various birds at his feeders, and experimenting with many types of projects. He was a Jack of all trades and proud of his accomplishments in the wastewater field at the Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania and at Milliken in South Carolina.

He is survived by two daughters who were his greatest pride and joy, Kelly Hostetter and husband Ben of Conover, NC and Jessica Ward of Lancaster PA. He was also a proud and loving poppop of 13 beautiful grandchildren; three siblings Sterling Newsome, Jr. of South Carolina, Sherry McCracken of Maryland and Billy Newsome of Tennessee as well as a number of nieces and nephews. His favorite companion was his rescue dog Bentley.

On Christmas night Larry rededicated his life to God and his family is looking forward to a reunion one day in Heaven.

The family will plan a celebration of life service for Larry at a later date.
