Lena Stroud Pounds, 87, of Kingstown, NC, passed away on May 8, 2025 at her residence. She was born in Cleveland County, NC to the late Iverson Stroud Sr. and Lena Elder Stroud on July 25, 1937.
Ms. Lena enjoyed shopping, planting flowers, cooking, baking, and being with her friends. She retired from PPG Industries with more than 30 years of employment. She was a member of Lawndale 1st Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Stroud, Herbert Lee Stroud, John Wesley Stroud, Charlie Usher Stroud, Iverson Stroud, Jr., and Thomas Stroud; sisters, Alberta Robinson, Ada Lou Bell, Annie Bell Benton, Willie Mae Boykins, and Conolia Shivers; and a special niece, Inetta Greene.
She leaves to cherish precious memories to her husband of 69 years, William Pounds, of the home; sister, Hazel Stroud Thomas; special family members, Linda and James Wilson, who cared for her; Betty Fernanders, her shopping partner; Cam Norris, Doris Gidney, and Sylvia Moon; brothers in law, Oscar Pounds, John Pounds, and Ernie Pounds (Roxanne); sister in law, Margaret Pounds; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Palmer Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
