Leonard L. Cope, 78, of Kings Mountain, passed away August 13, 2018 at Sherrill's Ford Hospice House.
He was born August 1, 1940 in Gaston County, the son of the late Harry Cope and Nettie Jordan Cope.
Leonard was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 28 years, Flora "Ellen" Cope; son, Randall "Randy" Cope; daughter, Tracey Abernathy; stepchildren, Ted Williams, Charles Williams and Mary Williams; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and sisters, Alma Cope, Melba Hamby and Dot Harmon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Tammy McAlister and Kimberly Cope; sister, Barbara Duncan; and brothers-in-law, Gene Duncan and Grady Hamby.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, August 17th at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Larry Laws and Charles Williams.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
