Lester C. Toney, 76, of Lattimore, NC passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Born on March 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Sebert and Gladys Lucille Nelson Toney. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Lorene Burks; and his brothers, Dranan, Charles, Hank, Sebert, Jr., and Thomas Toney.

Lester was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. He retired and enjoyed his time as an amateur photographer and being outdoors. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed hunting and camping in his younger years. He also loved the NFL, being the most loyal Minnesota Vikings fan from the first year they became a team. Lester was incredibly humorous and shared many wonderful memories with his family.

Lester was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved his family and country dearly. During his life, Lester was one of the most generous souls to those in need. He also cherished many loving pets over the years.

Those left to cherish Lester's memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Juanita Ann Toney; daughter, Theresa Owens and husband David of Ellenboro; son, Jerry Toney and partner Nicholas Prieur of Michigan; also survived by his two remarkable grandchildren, Jared Owens of Washington, DC and Mackenzie of Ellenboro, NC. Lester leaves behind brothers, Bartley Toney of Florida, Hansford "Tedge" Toney and wife, Sonja of North Carolina; sister, Sarita Beavers of South Carolina; very special sister-in-law, Rosetta Toney of Petersburg, WV, Dinah Toney of Dublin, VA and Sadie Toney of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Funeral Service will be Friday, October 20, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home, with Rev. Bonnie Daughtie officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM, prior to the service. Cremation will follow according to his wishes.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Laurels of Hendersonville for their care and support in recent months.
