Lester Carl Cook

Lester Carl Cook, 95, of Lawndale, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

Carl was born on March 2, 1930, in Cleveland County and was a son of the late Minnifee Cook and Shirley Willis Cook. He was retired from Broughton Hospital men's hospital ward after thirty years. Twenty-six of those years he served as the supervisor. Carl also loved to whittle, garden, farming, hunting, and reading westerns. He was also a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elva Lunette Meade Cook; son-in-law, Don Ross, daughter-in-law, Lynn Cook; grandson, David Ross; three brothers, Clyde Cook and wife Hilda, Jim Cook and wife Jane, and infant son Dewey Cook.

Carl is survived by his four children, Sue Ross of Shelby; Dewey Cook of Casar, Russell Cook and wife Kathy of Lawndale and Lee Cook of Casar; sister, Sue Campbell of Casar; six grandchildren, Lisl Elliott Wright, Jason Elliott and wife Kiesha, Wesley Cook and wife Meghan, Stacy Cook Ivie and husband Nathan, Darla Wyatt and husband Stan and Patty Ross Edmondson and husband Rob; eleven great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; paw's dog, John.

He was blessed to be able to live with his son, Russell (Kathy) for the last six years; and in the last short time his daughter Sue cared for him in her home with the help of a great grandson DJ Elliott.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston. At other times the family will be at the home of Russell and Kathy Cook.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery in Casar, NC.
