It's official! One of the best historical plays about the Revolutionary War, especially as it was fought in and around the Old North State, returns this fall on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, to the Joy Performance Center in Kings Mountain.

The gist of the play is best described from this media release: "In 1780 our Patriot forefathers answered the call to come together to secure the birth and freedom of our nation."

It was noted in the release that, "'Liberty Mountain, The Revolutionary Drama', has been bringing this story to the Joy since 2014. Since 2015, the drama performance dates were in June and July each summer."

They further stated, "Our eighth season will move to the fall to coincide with the Oct. 7th anniversary of the battle which changed the course of the war in favor of the Patriots!"

As per play officials, the move to the Sept.15 through Oct. 8, 2023 dates "...will facilitate the broadening of our educational outreach, allow more coordination with the Kings Mountain National Military Park activities, and reach a broader more diverse audience."

Also, it is noted, "'Liberty Mountain' is working to build partnerships with local businesses, other area arts and history organizations, area schools, KMNMP, Cleveland County Tourism, the City of Kings Mountain, and Cleveland County which will make the production a true community event."
