Life Enrichment Adult Day Care Celebrates 31 Years By Dedicating New Facility
World War II veteran Grady Walker welcomes one of many animals that visit Life Enrichment as part of its goal to bring the community to the center each day.
New service to help caregivers to begin in 2012
Life Enrichment Center celebrated its 31st anniversary by dedicating a new 27,000-square foot facility on Life Enrichment Boulevard in Shelby.
Life Enrichment Center Adult Day Care began July 1, 1980, with two participants two days a week in a small, borrowed Sunday school room at John Knox Church.
The non-profit organization celebrated this week with 200 participants enrolled in two centers, located in Shelby and Kings Mountain. Visitors from 23 states across the United States have visited to learn what makes Life Enrichment a national teaching model.
The new facility is certified by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Anyone who is interested in a tour of the new facility, just off Fallston Road, should call the center at 704.484.0405.
As part of the celebration, an announcement was made by N.C. Sen. Debbie Clary that Life Enrichment will be one of three sites for a pilot project offering overnight respite in an adult day service setting. That program should begin in 2012.
