Lillian "Irene" Waters, age 82, of Forest City, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Irene was born January 10, 1936 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Faye Tesseneer and Addie Alberta Horn Tesseneer. She was a member of Gray's Creek Baptist Church. Irene was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Bobby Lewis Waters; daughter, Chris Poteet and granddaughter, Annissa Dwan Nix; two sisters, Maude Allison and Doris Champion.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Diane Nix and husband, Harold of Forest City and Tammy Walker and husband, Brian also of Forest City; brother, John Tesseneer and wife, Kim of Grover, NC and sister Laura Biggerstaff of Forest City. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Robert Deaton (Courtney), Jennifer Deaton, Amber Smith and Shawn Nix; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2018 (Irene's Birthday) at Gray's Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Bryan Ezell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. At other times they will be gathered at 201 Allen Drive, Forest City.
