Lillian Torres, of Shelby, NC, passed away on September 1, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family and beloved pets.

Lillian, known as Lil or Lilly to family and friends, was the life of the party. She had a wicked sense of humor and loved to laugh. Lilly was courage and bravery personified - throughout her life, she faced the many challenges presented to her with grace and dignity. She loved to embroider; taught by her grandmother, she passed this passion to her own granddaughter Candice. She also found a passion for video games later in life, faithfully playing Animal Crossing until she was no longer able to do so. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family, and loved to see her oldest friend, Agnes, whenever she could. Lilly adopted her dog, Stella, prior to moving to North Carolina, and Stella was a most cherished companion to her. She loved the open space that North Carolina gave to her and Stella, and spent many days on the front porch enjoying the weather.

Lilly is survived by her daughter, Fran; grandchildren, Candice and Ryan; son Paul; and son Steve and daughter in law Helga. Her love, courage and passion will live on in her family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, as this was a charity that Lilly greatly supported in life.

There will be a private celebration of life at the family home.
