Linda Clary Lemons, age 74, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on April 25, 1944 she was the daughter of the late William Ellie and Kate Weaver Clary. Linda was a 1962 graduate of Township Three High School when she was co-captain of the girl's basketball team. She was also voted most athletic by her senior class. She loved working in her yard, tending her flowers, making all kinds of crafts and shopping at Thrift Stores. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she served as youth director for many years when her sons were in that age group. She attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church for several years where her son and his family were members She was employed with J.C.Penny, Porter Brothers, and Shelby Printing and retired from North Carolina Cooperative Extension of Cleveland County with 26 years of service. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Clary Helton and Shirley Clary Bridges and husband Carl Ray Bridges; four brothers, Horace Clary and wife Doshie, Everett Clary and wife Janie, Mitchell Clary, and Hugh Pinkney Clary.

Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Evans Lemons; two sons, Carroll Lemons of Charlotte and Vance Lemons and wife Wendy of Shelby; and her beloved and only granddaughter, Peyton Lemons and Fiancée Blake Wilkey; two brothers, her twin brother, Bobby Clary and wife Jeanette of Shelby, and Joe Clary and wife Katie of Raleigh; brother-in-law, Claude Helton of Mt Airy; sisters-in-law, Nancy Clary of Cary, Kathryn Lemons Hamrick and husband Dennis of Shelby, and Mary Lemons Hawkins of Georgia; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11:00 am at Mt Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Trexler and Rev. Andy Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
