Linda Hoyle McSwain, 80 of New House Road, Shelby, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Atrium Health - Cabarrus in Concord.

Born in Cleveland County, on February 3, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Bruce "J.B." Hoyle and Louise Grayson Hoyle. She began her career at Cherryville High School and retired from Burns High School as a Home Economics Teacher. She was a lifelong member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William "Butch" Piercy.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Howard Bruce McSwain; daughter, Lynn McSwain Piercy and fiancé, William Abernathy of New House; two grandchildren, Preslei Piercy and Michael Gantt and wife, Dusty Francis Gantt; one great-grandchild, Elias G. Garcia. She is also survived by best friend, Suzanne Gibbs of Shelby.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with the Rev. Elisabeth Cothran officiating.
