Lloyd L. Peterson
Lloyd L. Peterson, age 82, of Bemidji, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County in North Carolina.
Born November 8, 1934 in Crookston, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Louis L. Peterson and Sophie (Carlson) Peterson. Lloyd was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He owned and operated the Busy Corner Store and was an owner/operating partner of Corner Sports Craft in Blackduck, Minnesota for many years. He was also an owner/operating partner of Bemidji Aviation located in Bemidji, Minnesota. Lloyd was well known in the community for his generosity, kindness, and sense of humor. Among his many interests, he enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at "The Shack" four-wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Bemidji.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Eunice (Ettestad) Peterson; his endeared father and mother-in-law, Henry and Anna Ettestad and their children: Velma (Ettestad) and Pete Carrigan/Kenneth Virden, Knute Ettestad, Lila (Ettestad) and Glen Skallman, Myron and Francis Ettestad, and Howard Ettestad; and three special cousins, Palmer Peterson, Jack Ruberg, and Louis Anderson.
Those left to cherish his memory include son, Loren Lloyd and wife Pamela Peterson of Ashland, Wisconsin; and daughter, Nanette (Peterson) and husband Duane Westrud of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Ryan Peterson, Karin Peterson, Erik Peterson, Evan Westrud and Sophie Westrud; close friend Jean McDonald of Duluth, Minnesota; close family members Shirley Ettestad of International Falls, Minnesota, W. Gordon and Patricia Ettestad of International Falls, Minnesota, Vincent Ettestad and companion Patricia Torgerson of Two Harbors, Minnesota, and Allan and Rosaline (Ettestad) Nesset of Kelliher, Minnesota. He is also survived by four long time friends, Warren Wittwer, Larry Lovold, Charlie Noren, and Dale Nelson; and the McDonald family, including Bud, Joan, Jeanette, and other family members.
A memorial service will be held in Bemidji at a later date.
