Local author to speak at KM Historical Museum

In honor of National Women's History Month, Kings Mountain Historical Museum is pleased to welcome award-winning author and storyteller Randell Jones on Saturday, March 30 beginning at 2:00pm. Jones will share a new telling of episodes from the life of America's pioneer hero, Daniel Boone. This time, the stories are about some of the women surrounding his life and influenced by it across three generations. Hear surprising stories about his wife Rebecca's life while Daniel was off on one long hunt or another as well as stories about two of his daughters.
This spring is the 250th anniversary of Daniel Boone's first excursion through the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky. Boone left his home along the upper reaches of the Yadkin River on May 1, 1769 and was gone for two years. This expedition initiated what became America's westward movement with the marking of Boone Trace in 1775 and the founding of Fort Boonesborough.
Some Boone women were instrumental in those great feats as well. Here is a chance to become better acquainted with America's pioneer history and the impact of these North Carolina women had on America's story.
As our current exhibit focuses on books and how their stories shape us, we are excited to discover another shaping story. We hope you will be a part of it!
Register for this FREE event on our Facebook Page: KMHistoricalMuseum.
This project was made possible by the funding from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
