Local Musicians on Ballot for Music Awards
Darin & Brooke Aldridge Band
This week two Nashville based music industry organizations announced the semi-finalists for their annual music awards and the Darin and Brooke Aldridge Band made both lists.
The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) released the results of the first round of voting for the 2013 International Bluegrass Music Awards and the Darin and Brooke Aldridge group are listed in 11 of the 18 categories on the “Second Round” ballot.  The top five vote getters in each category after the second round of voting will be finalists for the annual awards which are presented in September.
The band is on the IBMA ballot for Entertainers of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year, Album of the Year, and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year.  Brooke Aldridge is on the ballot for Female Vocalist, and Darin Aldridge for Guitar and Mandolin Player.  Other members of the band are on the ballot for Banjo, Bass, and Fiddle Players of the Year.
Professional members of the IBMA have until July 31st to return their ballots. The final list of nominees will be announced on August 14.   The awards are presented during the annual World of Bluegrass week which - for the first time - will be held in Raleigh, NC September 24-28.  The first two days of the week are reserved for the international music association’s annual business and educational conference, but end-of-the-week activities- including the awards show- will be open to thousands of music fans from all over the world.
The Inspirational Country Music Association (ICM) announced that Darin and Brooke Aldridge are semi-finalists for the 19th annual Inspirational Country Music Awards in the Inspirational Bluegrass Artist of the Year category.    The 21st Anniversary of the ICM Faith, Family and Country Convention and Awards will take place at Two Rivers at Opryland in Nashville on Oct 20-24, 2013, with the Music Awards taking place on October 24 at Two Rivers.  Others on the ballot in the Bluegrass Artist category include Ricky Skaggs, Doyle Lawson, Dailey & Vincent, the Isaacs, Marty Raybon, and Rhonda Vincent.
These announcements come just as the band is putting the finishing touches on a new album which will be released in several weeks.  The project will be on the Mountain Home label and should further cement the band’s reputation for working with some of the industry’s top song writers to create “ground breaking traditional based Americana” music.
Although their concert tour takes them all over North America, Darin and Brooke still make their home in Cherryville, NC.
