Local Podiatrists promote National Foot Health Awareness Month at NC General Assembly

April is National Foot Health Awareness month! Local podiatrists from Foothills Podiatry, PA joined NC Speaker of the House of Representatives Tim Moore, Senator Ted Alexander and Representative Kelly Hastings at the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh, NC on April 3, 2019.
Local podiatrists, Dr. Jeff Mauney and Dr. Ron Maskarinec, in conjunction with representatives from the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society arrived for "White Coat" day. Our local lobbyist, Debbie Clary assisted with arrangements between the representatives and the NC Foot and Ankle Society at the celebration.
The importance of the visit was to remind legislature about the importance of podiatric services to the citizens of the state of North Carolina. Podiatrist state wide are campaigning for public awareness and increase in liscencure fees.
Today's podiatrist is specially trained to provide the highest quality foot and ankle care and will carefully evaluate your individual case to determine the best treatment for you. Podiatrists can provide conservative(non-surgical) care, including orthotics, physical therapy, medication and exercise.
In some cases, surgery may be appropriate to alleviate discomfort or to restore the function of your foot. Today's podiatrist is uniquely trained to perform foot and ankle surgery. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine treat all foot and ankle pathology including ingrown toenails, routine diabetic foot care, sports medicine, trauma, wound care and surgery in private practices, nursing facilities, wound care centers, surgical centers, and hospitals throughout the state.
Here in Cleveland County, Foothills Podiatry, PA is the 8th oldest podiatric practice in the state of North Carolina. It was first established in 1932 by Dr. W.L. Mauney. Dr. W.L. Mauney, is a descendant of the Mauney family who helped found the City of Kings Mountain in the 1870s.
Foothills Podiatry, PA was established in Uptown Shelby in 1932. It was the first podiatry clinic in Cleveland County.
Dr. W.L. Mauney's mission to diagnose and treat the foot and ankle problems of the residents of the Foothills is still being fulfilled today with the current staff of three doctors including Dr. Jeff Mauney and Dr. Ron Maskarinec and Dr. Gretchen Lawrence.
In honor of National Foot Health Awareness Month, please take the opportunity to examine your feet and contact your local podiatrist to assist you in stepping out this spring with your best foot forward!
