Local student, Edly Massanga awarded scholarship from Crumley Roberts

Edly Massanga, living in Kings Mountain, has been awarded the prestigious Crumley Roberts "Next Step" Scholarship, and will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she will pursue a degree in foreign languages and education.
"Edly is a wonderful example of the hard-working students we have at Cleveland Community College," said L. Steve Thornburg, president. "We are proud of her, wish her the best as she continues her educational journey at UNC-Chapel Hill, and look forward to hearing about her future successes."
Edly has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average at Cleveland Community College, while working to support her family in Haiti.
She has also served as the President of Phi Theta Kappa, and worked as a substitute teacher in Cleveland County Public Schools. She is fluent in French, Haitian Creole, and English, and is learning Spanish.
Edly's dream is to teach language as a gateway to understanding our role as global citizens.
