Lois Christine Shuford, age 93, Lawndale, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 surrounded by family at Atrium Health - Cleveland , Shelby.
Christine was born in Cleveland County, on May 20th, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Griffin and Janet Davis. Christine was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Heyward Shuford. Christine was a lady who was known by many as the ultimate and loving caregiver for her family. Whether she was taking care of her mom for many years or staying by her husbands side day and night while he was in the nursing home. Christine was a woman of true love and selflessness.
Christine was a native of the community of Polkville, NC. She graduated from Polkville High School as the Valedictorian of her class, and later went on the to attend the Greensboro College for Women where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education. After graduation she came back to Cleveland County and took a job as an elementary teacher at Casar Elementary. Christine left that job to raise her family and later took the role of bookkeeper for her and her husbands business C&N Rug Manufacturing Co. for over 20 years. Christine was also a faithful member of Palm Tree Church in Lawndale where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader. Christine also was lady who loved animals. She truly loved all her cats and dogs.
Left to cherish the memories of this wonderful and loving lady is her son, Clint Shuford and his wife, Laura; daughter,
Jo Ellen Cornwell and her husband, Joey; two grandchildren, Katie Cornwell, and Ethan Conley, and Serra Bomer and her husband, Russell; three nieces, Susan Coley and her husband, Brad, Judith Isom and her husband, Ronnie, and Elaine Davis; two nephews, Eric Davis and his wife Tereasa, and Tony Shuford and his wife Joy as well as several great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Christine will be held on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Palm Tree Church 1160 W. Stagecoach Trail Lawndale, North Carolina 28090 with the Rev. Jeff Clevenger, and Dr. J. Eric Davis, officiating.
Internment will follow the service in the Palm Tree Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home in Fallston from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
