Mrs. Lona Mae "Jean" Richards, age 99, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018 surrounded by her nephew, Charles Powell and "grandson" Logan Powell in Old Hickory, TN. Born in Cleveland County on June 20, 1919 she was the daughter of late Roland Judson Powell and Martha Guffey Powell. She resided in Memphis, TN with her late husband John "Jimmy" Richards most of her life and was loved by her neighbors. Mrs. Richards was known for her fantastic home-made biscuits and bourbon cakes, which she lavished upon her friends and doctors. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her nine siblings, Richard Powell, Essie Pruitt, Florence Childers, Roland Judson Powell, Jr., Mary Whisnant, Charlie Avero Powell, John Alton White, Chester Cisero White and Betty Powell Robinson.

Mrs. Richards is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10:00 am at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
