Lona Mae Smawley Hunt, 99, of 244 McNeely Road, Casar, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese.

Born April 19, 1916 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Phillip Ishac Smawley and Jannie Turner Smawley. She was retired from Crestline Furniture. Mrs. Hunt was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she was a long time supporter of missions.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Buren Hunt; son, Eugene Hunt; daughter, Lalladge Hunt Rice and an infant daughter; four brothers, one infant brother; three sisters and a grandson.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Hunt of Morganton, Kenneth Hunt and Lloyd Hunt both of Casar; and a daughter, Mavis Harvey; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation:1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church, Casar

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church, Casar

Officiating: Rev. Robert Goins and Mrs. Juanita Avery

Burial: will follow in the church cemetery.
