Louise C. Holland, age 93, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Louise was born October 23, 1919 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Paul Carpenter and Dora Hames Carpenter. She was a third grade teacher at Forest City Grammar School for twenty years before her retirement and took joy in being a pastor’s wife to her late husband. She was a faithful member of Florence Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, Reverend Billy M. Holland and three sisters, Lois Elmore, Dot James and Pat Randall.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Holland and wife, Barbara of Murrells Inlet, SC, Ronnie Holland and wife, Tricia of Forest City, Tommy Holland and wife, Gail of Franklinton, NC and Ricky Holland and wife, Trudy of Mooresboro; two daughters, Brenda Byrd and husband, Terry of Ellenboro and Denice Queen and husband, Roger of Forest City; one sister, Mary Givins and husband, Briscoe of Forest City. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Sharon Hamrick and husband, Gary, Ken Byrd and wife, Allison, Jennifer Merritt and husband, Jay, Rodney Queen and wife, Jaime, Jeff Queen and wife, Wendy, Tony Holland and wife, Jill, Andy Holland and wife, Jennifer, Wess Holland and wife, Chrissy, Chris Holland and fiancé, Katie, Hunter Holland, Tom Holland and wife, Jennifer and seventeen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Reverend Bobby Gantt and Reverend Danny Camp officiating. Interment will follow in Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21 at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at 201 Florida Avenue, Forest City.
