Louise Jones Murray

Louise Jones Murray, 78, wife of Claude Murray of Shelby, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was a lifelong resident of Cleveland County and spent the past few years at Peak Resources in Cherryville.

She was a graduate of Lattimore High school and earned her RN degree from Spartanburg General Hospital. She was primary nurse for Dr. Merrill B Yeomens in the early 1960's and later was an RN at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church.

She, along with her business partners, started one of the first "Through The Week Schools" in the country in Shelby in 1968. The school was a charter program for pre-kindergarten children with the focus on creativity, responsibility, friendship, Christianity, and kindness.

Later, she earned her Real Estate Brokers license and worked in that field for several years before going back to her true calling of nursing at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Although her individual accomplishments were important to her, nothing was more so than her family including her husband, children, grandchildren and parents.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lelia Crosby Jones and Palmer Wilson Jones; her in-laws, Mary Lee Rollins Murray and Marion Theodore (MT) Murray; brother-in-law, Bobby Murray and numerous aunts and uncles.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is survived by a son, Patrick Murray and wife Melonie; a daughter, Kelli Murray Bolt and husband, Mike; two granddaughters, Shaye Bolt Soden and husband, Phillip, and Hannah Allen; two great grandsons, Bennett Michael Soden and Everett Dean Soden; sisters-in-law, Doris Murray Lester and Doris Murray; and a special aunt, Pat Crosby Hamrick

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 3:30pm on Thursday, June 5, 2018 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Teresa Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00pm-3:30pm at the funeral home.
