Loy Arnold Paige, 97, of Shelby passed away on Monday evening, November 24. He was preceded in death by his parents William Romie Paige and Flossie Towery Paige and his beloved wife, Margie Proctor Paige. Mr. Paige is survived by two daughters, Karen Paige Kroncke (James) and Lisa Paige Hall (Leggs) as well as 7 grandchildren, Dr Anna Kroncke (Jason Cochran), Gretchen Sosnowski (Rev Jamie Sosnowski), William Kroncke (Emily), Adam Hall, Stephen Hall (Geena), Maggie Bell (Lee), Ellen Davis (Christian) and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr Paige retired from Grover Industries and played left field on the Shelby American Legion team that won the World Series in 1945. He led the team with a .417 batting average. Mr Paige was a devoted longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church.


A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, November 29, 2:30 pm at Eastside Baptist Church. Family will receive friends at 1 pm in the church fellowship hall. A private burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
