Cherryville - Mr. Loyd R. Short, 89, of 110 Gold Street, passed away on
Friday, October 27, 2017 at Carolina Health Care and Rehabilitation in
Cherryville.

Mr. Short was born in Gaston County, NC on August 26, 1928 a son of the late
Roland Short and Bessie Trammell Short. He worked for Cherryville Ice and
Fuel and retired from Doran Mills in Cherryville. Mr. Short was a charter
member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cherryville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Short;
four brothers, Ray, Dwight, Bill, and Clyde Short and three sisters, Mazelle
Sanders, Ethel Black and Betty Bennett.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Annie Mae Black Short, of the home;
a son Roy Short of Cherryville; a granddaughter, Hannah Short of Cherryville
and a grandson, David Ramsaur of Louisiana; four sisters; Mamie Mosteller of
Lincolnton; Ruth Pruitt of Lincolnton; Frances Neal of Crouse and Shirley
Pruitt of Lincolnton.

Visitation will be any time Saturday or Sunday at the family's home.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00AM at Oak
Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Mull officiating.

Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.
