Loyse Hayes Willis

Loyse Hayes Willis, age 97, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Jackson County, GA. on April 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joe Henry and Lottie Evelyn Wallace Hayes. Loyse was an active lifetime member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and currently the oldest member. She was a member of the Love Joy Sunday School Class and in previous years served on various committees. Loyse was a CNA for White Oak Manor in Shelby and retired as a private duty nurse to Steve Nolley. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and being an officer of the Optimist Club. In addition to her parents, Loyse is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Warlick David Willis; a son, Kenneth Wayne Willis; five brothers and two sisters.

Loyse is survived by her grandson, Kenneth Scott Willis and wife Jill of High Point; two grandchildren, Matthew Scott Willis and Katherine Stewart Willis; Dianne and Jesse Thackerson, who were her caregivers, as well as, niece and nephew; and many other loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Rev. Rit Varriale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
