Lt. Col. Billy Craton Bostic

Lt. Col. Billy Craton Bostic, age 88, died Monday April 4, 2016 at V. A. Medical Center in Asheville. Born in Cleveland County on February 21, 1928 he was the son of the late John William and Molly Selina Wiggins Bostic. Billy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was the owner of Bill Bostic Service Station in Cliffside. He served in the Air Force after WWII as an airplane mechanic. He was a member of the Rutherford County Crime Control and a charter member and former Fire Chief for the Cliffside Volunteer Fire Department. Billy was recently honored with 50 Year membership in the Civil Air Patrol and served as Lt. Colonel. Billy enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and making wood puzzles. In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by two brothers, Miles Bostic and Bob Bostic; a sister, Georgia Scott; and an infant son.

Billy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mabel Dixon Bostic; a daughter, Joyce Waters and husband Steve of Boiling Springs; three brothers, John Bostic and Yates Bostic both of Cliffside and Wade Bostic of Flat Rock; a sister, Shirley Warner of Cliffside; and two grandchildren, Kurt Waters and wife Rebecca and Sunny Childs and husband Ben.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Camps Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Moorehead and Rev. Dale Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the sanctuary.
