Lucille Pruett Goforth, age 91, of Forest City, NC, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Lucille was born May 18, 1927 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Walter Vernon Pruett and Ethel Beheler Pruett. She worked at Burlington Industries until her retirement and was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church. Lucille was a sports fan and enjoyed playing on the church softball team. She loved baking, cooking and flower gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell James "R.J." Goforth; son, Doug Goforth; sister, Lula Mae "Curly" Langley and two brothers, Robert Eugene "Mater Head" Pruett and James Edward "Jam Up" Pruett, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Ronnie Goforth (Deborah) of the High Shoal Community and Jeffery Goforth (Byron Murphy) of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Detra Turner (Jeff), Steven Goforth (Karrie), Jason Goforth, Ashley King, Clint Goforth (Jessica); nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend John Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
