Lucy Elizabeth Ellison Lowery

Lucy Elizabeth Ellison Lowery, 89, passed away Friday January 20, 2023 at her home in Morganton, NC.

Born in Cleveland County on October 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late James Ervin Ellison and Bertha Mae Stroup Ellison. Kilgore, Charlie Melvin Ellison, James Edward Ellison, Ruth Janet Cook, two step daughters Janey Lou Lowery and Linda Lee Lowery, as well as, infant son Alvin Thomas Grant and grandson, Preston Emery Grant, first husband James Thomas Grant.

Elizabeth lived a beautiful Christian life. She smiled a lot and giggled often. She enjoyed fun with family and friends. A simple life growing up with a large family mostly farming. She milked cows before school and fed the chickens. Put the milk in the spring to stay cool, and hung the clothes on the line. Simple did not mean weak. She could ring a chicken's neck in a second and help dress out the pigs to make sausage and livermush. Picked the cotton for a little cash and learned to sew from her mother Bertha. Although she insisted she would not knit or crochet, no way and she didn't. All these things feed and clothed her family. She was strong, a survivor. She really enjoyed teaching children's Sunday school. She loved children and knew the importance of training a child to love the Lord. Children gravitated to her, they could feel her love for them. This simple life meant simply to accept Jesus, be forgiven and follow his path. This simple life of hers was best
