Lula Mae Blanton

Lula Mae Blanton, 93, of Polkville, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at White Oak Manor, Shelby.

She was born December 8, 1927 to Lester and Lucy Hoyle White. Lula Mae was a lifelong stay at home mother and homemaker, who served as a Sunday school teacher at Polkville Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and most of all, traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Blanton and infant son, as well as brothers Hoyle J. White and Leroy White.

Lula Mae is survived by son Billy Blanton and wife Jeanne, of Polkville, NC, and daughter Gayle McCurry and husband Joel, of Cary, NC. She is also survived by her brother Jack White and wife Barbara, as well as three sisters: Dorothy Sue Propst and husband Jimmy, Madge Shuford and husband Bob and Mary Gettys and husband Walter. In addition, she is survived by Marlene White, wife of her late brother Leroy White; three grandchildren: Camille Blanton, Jonathan McCurry and Justin McCurry; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and best friend, Reba Mode.

Lula Mae will lie in state at Polkville Baptist Church from 1:30pm to 2:30pm Monday, December 21, 2020. The family will not be in attendance.

A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Will Davis and Dale Byrd.

The family has requested that all guests wear a mask for the protection of themselves and others.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Polkville Baptist Church (P.O. Box 245 Polkville, NC 28136).
