MAKE FARM SAFETY A PRACTICE...

Cleveland County Farm Bureau Ag Week March 5-11, 2017

Did you know that a person can be submerged in flowing grain in just 60 seconds? In the past 50 years, more than 900 cases of grain engulfment have been reported. Don't become a statistic!

Never approach livestock from the rear or you may receive a swift kick to your personal space. Cattle, horses, pigs and other livestock are not pets and are responsible for many injuries on the farm and ranch. Respect animals' personal space.

We all enjoy the bounty of America's farms and ranches on our plates - so remember to let farmers and ranchers get their job done and slow down on the roads this spring as they prepare their fields and plant the crop. Keep a safe distance and let them have some space.

Why can't little James ride on grandpa's lap on the tractor? The answer is simple - there is only enough space in the tractor seat for the operator. One seat, one rider. Every time. It could save the life of your child, grandchild or a young visitor on the farm or ranch.

SAFETY IS ALWAYS "IN SEASON"
