Marcene Huss Blackburn Wright

Marcene Huss Blackburn Wright, 90, of Vale passed away on November 22, 2024 at her residence.

Marcene was born in Lincoln County to the late Howard Taft Huss and Jeanette Effie Garner Huss. Marcene was retired from Shelby Dye & Finishing as their bookkeeper, and was a member of Hulls Grove Baptist Church. She was also active in the Joy Club and formerly taught Sunday School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James B. Blackburn; infant daughter and son; second husband, Edwin Wright; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Cockerline and sister, Brenda Dellinger.

She is survived by her daughter, Tonya Carpenter (Keith) of Lincolnton; step-son, Terry Wright (Jane) of Vale; two step-daughters, Ricki Barkley (Ruben) of Vale and Cheryl Wright (Alice) of Cary; grandchildren, Billy Carpenter (Callie), Joshua Carpenter (Lyndsay), Alicia Cockerline (Jason), Kimberly Davis (Darren), Seth Barkley (Kathleen), Dustin Wright (Alison), Jessica Hilderbran (Ken) and Haley Wright; great-grandchildren, Logan Carpenter (Carson), Caleb Carpenter, Colton Carpenter, Nathan Cockerline, Benjamin Davis, Jonathan Morgan, Addison Wright, Gabrielle Wright, Jace Hilderbran, Sarah Wright, Rachel Hilderbran, Jedidiah Barkley, Ezekiel Barkley and Isaiah Barkley; brother-in-law Wyatt Dellinger of Shelby; niece, Diane Parkhurst and husband Steve and children Spencer and Alex; and a nephew, Nelson Dellinger and wife Jamie.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hulls Grove Baptist Church

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hulls Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey and Billy Carpenter officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Crouse Baptist Church Cemetery
