Marcus Harold Upton, 78 of Coot Williams Road, Cherryville passed away,
Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System-Lincoln.

Born December 30, 1939 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Elphus
Cletus Upton and Lizzie Mae Willis Upton. He was reitred as the Water Plant
Operator for the City of Cherryville. Harold was a member of Plainsview
Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Williams Upton; two
daughters, Shirley Alexander and husband, Aaron of Boiling Springs and Penny
Newton and husband, Allan of Cherryville; a sister, Ruth Wright and husband,
Hal of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Kasey Riddick and husband, Joe of
Kill Devil Hills, Taylor Alexander of Boiling Springs and Trey Newton of
Cherryville and four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Lilly Grace, Nathan and
Hadley Riddick.

Visitation will be 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Friday at Plainsview Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be 4:00 PM Friday at Plainsview Baptist Church with
Dr. Ernest W. Speagle officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
