Mrs. Margaret Ann Hamrick Edwards, age 75 of Shelby, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 17, 2021.

She is survived by her husband, Harlan Nelson Edwards Jr. of the home, three children, Christopher Edwards (Sandy) of Cherryville, NC, Bryan Edwards (Amy) of Raleigh, NC, and Jennifer Henderson (Logan) of Mooresville, NC, eight grandchildren, Rachel Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, Julia Edwards, Clara Edwards, Hannah Joy Edwards, Lila Henderson, Mallory Henderson, and Kendra Henderson, a brother, John Hamrick (Aletta) of Mooresboro, NC, two sisters, Elizabeth Roberts (Cisco) of Shelby, NC, and Lois Splawn of Mooresboro, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born November 8, 1946 in Cleveland County, Margaret was the daughter of the late Frank Elliot Hamrick Jr. and Frances Jenkins Hamrick.

She was a dedicated wife of nearly 54 years to her high school sweetheart Harlan Edwards, Jr. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, time at the beach, and being with her family, especially her eight granddaughters who called her MawMaw. Margaret was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist church until the time of her health challenges. She was an elementary and middle school teacher with 30 years of dedicated service to the Cleveland County School system. For many years, she enjoyed playing shortstop for the State Champion Golden Girls senior softball team.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andy Oliver and Dr. Jim Richardson. A visitation will be held from 10:30am - 12:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be Monday November 22, 2021 at 10:00am at Cleveland Memorial Park.
