Margaret Dover Willis, 95, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Atrium Health Cleveland.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born on August 11, 1930 to the late Clyde Dover and Grace Cook Dover.

Margaret was a graduate of Fallston High School in 1948. She was a homemaker for many years working diligently in raising her family. Margaret later worked as an Election Judge for the Cleveland County Board of Elections and as the Exhibit Hall Director for 50 years for the Cleveland County Fair. She was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church in Shelby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward H. Willis; two siblings, Joyce Dover Hilton, and Wayne E. Dover; and her daughter-in-law, Conni Willis.

Those left to treasure her memories are her sons, Steve Willis (Patricia), of Winston Salem, and Dale Willis, of Shelby; and her grandchildren, David, Jacob, and Jennifer.

The family also extends their deepest gratitude to those who assisted Margaret during recent years. These people include her special friend, good neighbor, and caregiver, Jane Robbins; her special neighbors, Shane and Jill Walker; her special friends, Nancy Byrd, and Nancy Green; and Mark Smith, who maintained her home and grounds.

There will be a private graveside service at Cleveland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Eastside Baptist Church, at 1165 Wyke Rd, Shelby, NC 28150.
