Margaret Littlejohn Dedmond

Margaret Littlejohn Dedmond, age 97, passed away on Sunday June 27, 2021 at her home in Cherryville.

Born in Greenville, SC on February 25, 1924 she was the youngest of eleven children born to the late William Joseph Littlejohn and wife Ada Smith Littlejohn. She retired from BB&T in Shelby at age 62 after more than 40 years in the banking industry and was the former president of both the Shelby Business Women's Association and the Independent Insurance Agents of Cleveland County. Margaret was an avid bridge player and became a Sliver Master Duplicate Bridge player. Margaret was very proud of her family and that both sons and all six grandchildren earned degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ralph W. Dedmond.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Richard Dedmond and his wife, Cinda, of Southern Pines, and Keith Dedmond and his wife, Kathy, of Lincoln County. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Kevin Dedmond (Nita), Michael Dedmond (Bridgett), Melissa Boothe (Brandon), Brian Dedmond (Kris) and Molly and Emma Dedmond, as well as six great-grandchildren; Brinkley, Connor, Banks, Ellie, Jackson, and Kallie.

The family welcomes friends to visit with them Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. A private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Janice Cooper officiating.

Margaret's family wishes to thank her loving and devoted caregivers for the last three and a half years; Darlene, Catherine, Dee and Sherry, as well as the Staff of Hospice of Cleveland County.

In lieu of flowers it is requested that memorial donations be made to Central United Methodist Church 200 E Marion St. Shelby, NC 28150 or Hospice of Cleveland County 951 Wendover Height Drive, Shelby NC 28150.
