Marie Parker Brackett, 97, of Lawndale, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, on June 1, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Avery Parker and Vicey Elizabeth Suttle Parker. She was retired from Alba Waldensian Hosiery and was a member of Kadesh United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas "Dude" Edward Brackett; six brothers, James, Alvin, Glenn, Ralph, Wade and Arthur Parker and a sister, Margie Black.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Christmas and husband Harold "Buck" of Hickory and Sandy Cook and husband Everette "Sonny" of Newton; two sisters, Shirley Pearson of Morganton, NC, and Annie Virl Stephenson of Bryson City, NC; four grandchildren, Cregg Christmas and wife Kristine of Louisville, Kentucky , Brett Christmas and wife Robin of Fayetteville, Ginger Young and husband Mitch of Lenoir and Chad Cook and wife Monica of Ring Gold, Georgia; and eight great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kadesh United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Kadesh United Methodist Church with the Revs Brian Elwell and Keith Stephenson officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
