Cherryville - Mrs. Marlene Beam Brown, 82, passed away on Thursday, March
22, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare Systems - Cleveland in Shelby, surrounded
by her family.

Mrs. Brown was born on October 5, 1935 in Gaston County, NC a daughter of
the late William Blaine Beam and Georgia Beam Beam. Marlene was a member of
First Baptist Church in Cherryville where she served as Sunday School
nursery director for many years. She was a devoted homemaker and cherished
her family. Marlene enjoyed working for the Gaston County Board of
Elections and looked forward to Election Day. She was an avid fan of
Bluegrass music, especially the music of Darin and Brooke Aldridge. Her
most enjoyable pastime was spending with her family, especially her grandson
Nick and also line dancing.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue
Beam Ledford and Margaret Beam Smith and three brothers, Quinn Baxter Beam,
John David Beam and Richard Gilbert Beam.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John Sherman Brown, Sr., of the
home; a son and daughter-in-law, John Sherman Brown, Jr. and Kelly of
Cherryville; a grandson, Nickolas Brown of Cherryville; three sisters,
Katherine Goins, Martha Cornwell (Richard), Judy Bingham (Jack) and one
sister-in-law, Jean Beam all of Cherryville; also surviving are numerous
nieces and nephews. She will forever be loved and missed by her family and
friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 1:45 to 3:15 PM at First
Baptist Church in Cherryville. The family will also have visitation from
4:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the home of Johnny and Kelly
Brown, 802 Crescent Drive, Cherryville.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at First
Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.

Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.
