Marolyn Whitaker Davison, 85 of Shelby, N.C. went to be with her Lord on June 7, 2022.

She was surrounded by her family. Marolyn was born in the Pleasant Church community on May 27, 1937 with her twin sister Carolyn. Preceding her in death were her parents, Shull and Ever Whitaker.

Marolyn was a devoted mother, wife, and provider. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir and serving on several committees. Marolyn loved to travel and had visited every state in the union except Hawaii, as well as several provinces of Canada. She liked to play checkers, cards, and watch ACC basketball. She was a past president of the local chapter of ABWA, American Business Woman Association. She gave her time and work to Shelby Lions Club for the distribution of food to those in need. Marolyn retired from Container Corporation of America. The most important thing in her life was the love for her family and church.

Marolyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph R. Davison Sr., three children, oldest daughter Beth Davison Walker, husband Neal, Joseph R. Davison Jr., wife Jill, youngest daughter Janie Davison Hardin, husband Mike, six grandchildren Hollyann Walker Davison, husband Brandon, Lyda Walker and special friend, Steven J. McCarthy, Reese Davison, Rafe Davison, Eli N. Hardin, fiancée Caroline Beeler, and Sydney Hardin Hayes, husband Caleb.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Westview Baptist Church in Shelby, NC with Rev. Rick Bowling officiating. Burial will follow the service at 2:30 PM in Green Hill Cemetery of Waynesville, NC.
