Mrs. Marshalean Gibson Ashe of Charlie Elliott Road, Polkville, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House, at the age of 93.

Marshalean was born on June 4, 1930 in Jackson County, NC. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marshalean is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Clifton R. Ashe; her parents, Hobert and Maggie Gibson of Waynesville, NC and two sisters, Janet Green and Louise Wylie.

Marshalean is survived by her children, Bruce Ashe and Vanda Ashe Hamrick and husband, Richard of Polkville; her grandchildren, Craig Hamrick, Lewis Childers and Kelly Childers Beyer; her sister, Jean Hensley of Waynesville and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

After moving to Polkville, Marshalean and her husband, Clifton established a chain of retail stores, Ashe Fabrics. After retiring and closing the retail stores she settled into being a homemaker and grandmother. She loved to work in her flower beds and grow vegetables.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers for their wonderful care.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Blakeley officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marshalean's life.
