Martha Ellen Mauney Davis

Martha Ellen Mauney Davis of Grantland Place, died Wednesday, October 26th at Hospice of the Piedmont, following a lengthy illness.

Martha was born October 30th, 1927, in Cleveland County and married Ray Dean Davis on October 6th, 1946. They were blessed with two wonderful children Marsha Rae and Joseph (Joe) Dean. She was proceeded in death by her parents Bailey and Selma Mauney, husband Ray D. Davis, daughter Marsha R. Davis and brother Dale Mauney.

She worked for the Guilford County Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1990 after spending most of her career as a Secretary/Bookkeeper at Ben L. Smith High School. She was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church for over 35 years and served in many capacities.

Surviving; her loving son Joseph (Joe) and wife Donna and one very special grandson Michael, who she loved so much and was so very proud of. Also surviving; extended family friends Taylor and Susan Sheppard and family, Mark and Melissa Julian and family. Three ladies that carried a special place in her heart, sharing many memories and adventures over the years, Bea Hollowell, Kay Sasser and Mary Kober.

Joe, Donna, and Michael wish to thank our church families at Cornerstone Baptist Church and Life Community Church for your love, support and prayers and the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Benevolence Fund at Cornerstone Baptist Church 5736 Inman Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 or Hospice of the Piedmont 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point, NC 27262.

To honor the life of Martha Davis a funeral service will be held at 6:30 pm, Thursday November 10th at Cornerstone Baptist Church 5736 Inman Road, Greensboro, NC 27410. Graveside service will be at 2pm Friday, November 11th at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby.
