Martha Hamrick

Martha Hamrick, age 80, of Forest City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at her residence after an extended illness.

Martha was born November 23, 1939 in Rutherford County to the late Roy Ray and Margaret Deese Ray. She was a graduate of Tri-High, class of 1958. Martha worked for Skyland Textiles for several years and Scott Vending Company for twenty-four years before retirement. She was a longtime and faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served in the church choir. Martha was all about her family, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and her specialty was cakes. Martha was always concerned about taking care of others and was a true servant of the Lord.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Ray.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of fifty-six years, Garland Hamrick; daughter, Michele Bridges and husband, Jim of Dobbinsville; son, Michael Hamrick and wife, Lisa of Mooresboro; sister, Rita Baynard and husband, Marshall of Danieltown; brother, Dennis Ray and wife, Dena of Taylorsville, NC and grandson, Ryan Hamrick of Forest City.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Poe Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the church foyer.
