Martha Smith Murray, age 81, went to heaven on September 24, 2017,and is now singing with the Angels. Born in McDowell County on June 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Feber and Leath Garland Smith. Martha was a member of Hoey United Methodist Church. Martha retired from Reliance Electric after a number of years. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach. In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen Miller, and a brother, Jack Smith.

Martha is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norris Murray; a son, Tim Murray and wife Jona of Shelby; and a sister, Joy Gibson and husband Charles of Marion.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Priscilla Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
