Martha Sue Lovelace Wells, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026 while at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Forest City, NC. She was born in Rutherford County, NC to the late James Boyd Lovelace and Elsie Sue Jones Lovelace. She is also predeceased by her son, Donald Eugene "Bubba" Barnett; sister, Lenora Floyd; brothers, James Pinkney Lovelace, Kenneth Faye Lovelace and James Glen Lovelace;

Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her daughter, Patsy Sue Scruggs (Brian); grandsons, Thomas Gordon Pursley (Heather) and James Ray Pursley (Brittany); great-grandsons, William James Pursley, Alexander "Alex" Lee Pursley, Samuel "Sam" Thomas Pursley, Carl Hudson, Zachary Pilgrim and Johnathan "John Boy" Hudson; granddaughter, Kristie McCall; great-granddaughter, Christina "Lulu" Hudson; sister-in-law, Mary Lovelace; nephews, Boyd Lee Lovelace, Terry Floyd and Billy Lovelace; special nephew, Daniel Lovelace (like a second son)

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at The Barn Christian Fellowship, 590 US-74 BUS, Bostic, North Carolina 28018 with Pastor Neil Murry officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service.

During her lifetime, for 30+ years she was Lead Spray Handed at Broyhill Furniture, a member of the Hudlow Fire and Rescue Support Team, a Volunteer at Hospice and Home Health Caregiver. She believed in nurturing every life she touched--whether it was her patients or her cherished children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nephews and many other family memberts and friends. She taught us that a simple act of compassion can change a life. She was a true friend to all, Martha will be missed deeply.
