Martha Wallace Suttle, age 91, of Maple Creek Road, Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Martha was born August 21, 1921 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Enoch Marvin Wallace and Annie Carrie Callahan Wallace. She worked for Elmore Mills and PPG for many years, but her life’s work was being a homemaker and taking caring care of her family. She loved being everyone’s caregiver. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, William “Sut” Crawford Suttle and six brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Don Weeks and wife, Joyce of Boiling Springs, SC and Bill Suttle and wife, Pat of Rutherfordton; one daughter, Brenda McEntyre and husband, Don of Rutherfordton; one brother, J.B. Wallace of Arizona and one sister, Carolyn Mitchell of Tampa, Florida. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Lynn Youngblood, Shelly Hollifield, Vicki Childers, Lee Weeks, Robby Suttle, Brannon Suttle and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
